This was an interesting lesson and got me to thinking how we could use a Wiki for student worker feed back and training.
Becky and I could create the first Wiki online and then ask the students to help us build on it. Their sharing what they learn in actually doing a task could be very helpful.
I am thinking that the database information may be a great place to start.
Returning students could share what works for them; how best to use the databases and which ones work best for them in their research.

Delicious! mmmmmm.........mmmmmmm....good
I like this tool. Having my bookmarked sites in one spot and accessible on any computer is wonderful. I can easily move between work and home and not have to worry about URLs.
Also, giving my students a set of bookmarks for sites I could use for training would be great.
I guess I really like the fact that thru Delicious bookmarked sites are available on any computer is the best.
And this week I knew something my kids didn't know about! They thought their mother was really cool! And they were impressed with Delicious as well.

My Face!!
As my 80 year old mother says now whenever she stops over: "Please show me what's new with my children and grandchildren on 'My Face'!" We smile and avoid even trying to correct her any more! She loves seeing and reading the about what is new in the lives of her family members.
This is the best testimony for Facebook---it keeps us all connected like never before.
We enjoy keeping in touch and up to date with family and friends. Facebook is people friendly, family friendly, and fun.
My Space is new to me. It seems more detailed, more complex, bigger and showier. I've heard more about it's security problems and that scares me. Even students speak a bit wary of it's popularity and security issues. On the up side, there are more apps available than in Facebook, which accounts for My Space's sophistication.

Document
Hey! This was rather simple and quick.
I think when we are updating our student worker documents this would be a great way for Becky, Jan and myself to all see and having editing privleges on 1 document instead of emailing them back and forth or running hard copies.
Once created, edited by we three, we could simply up load the documents to the Moodle account and we would be done. We could all work on the same worksheet at the same time.
Sounds great to me!!

Creating a blog
It was too easy! That's all there is to it??
I am excited to create and share a library student worker blog this fall. I can see us blogging about coming events, projects we are working on (seminary books, interfiling sem books, adding seminary patrons, etc.) and sharing information about student worker departments and tasks. Perhaps here is where we can share our weekly updates with the students.
Personally I hope to blog with my grown children. Perhaps sharing family updates together on the one site, verses email or texting. And to think that their mom was the first to family blog!!

The hardest of the 71/2 habits...
I think my greatest challenge is my lack of confidence in myself and sometimes my abilities. Working with 30 student workers and being perhaps the oldest among my colleagues here in the library, I am technology challenged nearly every day! These young-ones are amazing! Their abilities amaze me. I ask my own 3 young adult children "how do you know that?? Who taught you that??" They look at me with confusion and often respond, "I just do it. Try, mom, you can do it......just try!" So with a deep breath and tish of excitement..........here we go!! I've already proudly shared with them that I am now a blogger, soon to be twitter and they celebrated my accomplishments with praise and encouragement!!
71/2 habits....
I have the past few years tried to maintain the attitude that problems are challenges that can be met head on with a positive attitude. Why be grumpy, as my mom always says. Anyone can do that!! Be positive, be happy and enjoy just today. At the end of the day, be sure you can look back without regret and afirm that today was a good day.
